Mya turned 9 months old yesterday! It's been a while since we've given a broad update, but no time like a "birthday" to do it!
Height: 28 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 19 lbs, 2 ounces (50th percentile)
Still tall and skinny!
Mya is a happy creature of habit...she seems the most social, relaxed and predictable when we generally stick to the following schedule:
6:30am - Wake up happy! Get changed and nurse/bottle for breakfast. Happy playtime.
8:30am - Breakfast solids. Usually peaches and/or bananas mixed with oatmeal. Her fave.
9:30 or 10:00am - Morning nap. Usually 1.5 hours, sometimes 2 hours.
11:30am or 12:00pm - Lunch. Solids (generally a vegetable) followed by a bottle. More happy playtime.
2:00 or 3:00pm - Afternoon nap. Usually shorter than the morning nap and harder to predict.
4:00pm - Afternoon bottle. A bit of happy playtime before the evening crankies set in.
5:30pm - Dinner solids. Generally a vegetable followed by some toast or Cheerios.
6:15pm - Bathtime. Mya loves to take baths in the kitchen sink. She especially loves when I leave the water on a trickle and she sticks her hands in the stream, trying to "grab" the water! Mya gets some happy naked playtime after her bath. Man, does she love to be naked.
7:00pm - Sleepytime nurse/bottle, followed by bedtime! Love that she sleeps about 10.5 to 11 hours a night.
Mya has tried a wide variety of fruits and vegetables now. She just loves peaches, bananas, zucchini and broccoli. She also handles peas, butternut squash and avocado pretty well. But I have never seen her take down anything like the baby vanilla yogurt I gave her the other day! A definite new favorite! She's getting pretty close to mastering the "pincer grasp", the ability to pick something up with her thumb and forefinger and get it in her mouth; Dr. Dab says as soon as she can do this with Cheerios, she'll be ready to eat just about anything...won't be long until she can get cubes of cheese, chicken, steamed veggies, and other goodies from Mommy and Daddy's plates!
Still no full-blown crawling, but it's close. She can now get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth...I hear it's just a matter of days now until she puts it all together and starts to take off.
Mya came to visit me at work last week and displayed her first signs of shyness...she was still charming, but was quieter than usual and tended to bury her head into my shoulder. We'll try to get her out and about more so she gets used to it! Hoping her brother Major doesn't teach her separation anxiety...
